Well, yes you do, but not if you are being dragged. The rider could easily pull their foot out of the boot if they are being dragged by a horse.
These cowboy boots are typically constructed from cowhide leather, but can often be made from very exotic skins including: alligator, ostrich, eel, lizard, sting ray, buffalo, snake, elk, elephant, and much more.
